Well that sucks!

Makes me sad at the same time. Seems that Marcus Stroud may be facing a 4 game suspension for violating the NFL's steroid policy. He failed the first test, but has requested that a second test be done. He isn't commenting much on the situation and neither is the Jags coach nor the NFL. I just hope that this second test comes back negative and all is well. I would hate to see one of my UGA boys fall to stuff like that.

I'll update when I find more information.

It sure does feel good!!

I'm talking about the Dawgs taking a big bite out of some Gator tail in Jacksonville on Saturday. I'm still giddy!!

Coach Richt is catching a lot of slack for that whole team celebration in the end zone. I think it was a good call. It fired up a team that has been in desperate need of firing up in recent years. Especially in this game. I don't feel that it was intentionally disrespectful to the Gators (if they want to take it that way then that is their problem). I don't think it was about the Gators at all. It was about the Dawgs and them going out with attitude and having a little bit of fun. It was about emotion. We needed that. I just hope that it carries over for a long long time.

Here is a little clip of it if you care to watch. It is all over the UGA blogs out there so I'm not sure where it originated from, but I got it at The Bulldawg Blawg. Enjoy it. I sure do. ;-)

I have to say that this is the first UGA/FL game I've really enjoyed watching in awhile. It's always fun to watch when your team wins, but it was more than that. It looked like they were having fun and there was so much emotion. I love that. I've missed that.

Want to know some stats? Here ya go:
1. 196 rushing yards (Knowshon Moreno carried 33 times for 188 yards)
2. 217 passing yards (Stafford was 11 of 18 and had one for 84 yards to Massaquoi)
3. We sacked Tebow 6 (yes count them........6) times!! He had only had 5 sacks on the year coming into this game............way to go defense!!
4. 19 first downs
5. 10 of 13 on third down conversions (I'm really liking that percentage)
6. We scored every time we entered the red zone (4 for 4)

I think this one one of the best games we've played this year.

I just read today that Knowshon was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week. He's already been named SEC Freshman of the Week twice this year. I've said it before, but dang he is fun to watch and I sure hope we have him for 3 more years!! Go here to vote for him for Freshman of the Year.

To my boys and to Coach Richt.................congratulations and thank you! You've brought the swagger back. ;-)

IT'S GREAT TO BE A GEORGIA BULLDOG!!!

I SAID IT'S GREAT TO BE A GEORGIA BULLDOG!!!!

WOOHOOO!!!!! GEORGIA 42 GAYTORS 30!!!!! WOOHOOOOO!!! TEBOW WHO?

I so want to be in Jacksonville tonight!! I'm sure it is a huge party!

I'll have to blog about the game later. Right now I'm too hyped up to sit still long enough to do it. I have to gather my thoughts. I do have to say though that I wasn't really sure about that whole rushing the end zone thing after the first touchdown, but it seems to have worked and fired up the Dawgs. Good call coach. ;-)

April 24, 2008

Do you know what you will be doing that night? I do!! I'll be at the GEC (okay so it is now the Sommet Center, but I like GEC better). What will I be doing there? I'm so glad you asked!! I will be spending the evening with Bon Jovi!! Yep, the new tour dates have been announced and they will be in Nashville on April 24. I can't wait!!!! I'm giddy!! Yes, I realize I'm incredibly sad. LOL I've made hotel reservations for downtown and I've already decided to take the next day off from work. Can't very well go out after the concert and be at my best with 17 five year olds the next day. LOL I have a friend coming into town from Boston for the concert too. This will be the first time I get to go with someone who loves them as much as I do. Hee hee!! I'm so excited!!!

Not 100% child free, but.......

I'm down by 50%. Seems that one of my children would rather be at PaPaw's house than at home with his parents and his sister. Joshua got to make the two and a half hour drive after school today to see his PaPaw. Grandma stopped by the school to pick him up. Now he will be at their house until I go get him on Saturday. What does that mean for the remaining child? Well, now she can play with whatever she wants with no worries that her older brother is going to take it away from her. She gets to watch whatever she wants at quiet time. She gets exclusive mommy and daddy time. I think she will enjoy a couple brother free days.

I've said it before....

The SEC is awesome!! We have 7 (yes 7) teams ranked in the top 25. Not bad if you ask me. Tough conference with great teams.

3. LSU
9. Florida
14. Kentucky
15. South Carolina
20. Georgia
22. Alabama
23. Auburn

Speaking of weddings.......

I was trying to remember what I got my bridesmaids for a gift. I cannot remember for the life of me. Yes it was 5 years ago, but you would think that I would remember something like that. Nope. I'm not even sure that Michael got a groomsmen gift for his guys. I remember that he got one when he was in his brother's wedding. How sad is it that I can remember he got one in someone else's wedding, but not if he gave one in our own wedding. Is "mommy brain" really that bad? I would have to say yes since I used to never have a problem remembering things until I had kids. LOL Let that be a warning for those of you who don't have kids yet. They steal your brain cells. LOL

They are killing me!!

My Titans. They are driving me nuts. They cannot get into the end zone for anything. They have made 6 (at the moment) field goals and only 1 touchdown today. The 6 field goals are a franchise record. The NFL record is 7. We are on track to break that one. Our defense is playing really well again, but our offense is really really bad. Okay, not horrible, but not really good either. If it wasn't for our defense we would not be winning many games. *sigh*

As I type this we did get into the end zone for the 2nd time today. Chris Henry got his 1st NFL touchdown. Good for him.

ETA: Our defense is starting to not play so well. *sigh*

ETA (again): "Wow what a game!" says the announcer. Ummm, yeah! We barely pulled it out with a Bironas field goal (yeah he broke the NFL record for number of field goals in a game with 8) with 4 seconds left. Good for him, but dang!! That is just crazy. We need to be getting in the end zone. It's embarrassing if you really want to think about it.

Always interesting.........for me anyway.

I no longer live in my hometown or one of the three places I call my hometown. I kind of miss keeping up with old friends I had in those places. One thing that helps me to stay informed about what is going on is to go online and look at the local newspapers. One of my favorite things to look at is the engagement announcements. It is always interesting to see if any of my old friends are getting married. I also like to look at birth announcements. Granted I don't see as many of my old friends in these sections anymore since we are getting older, but I enjoy it when I do. I guess now I will have to start looking for their kids. Ugh! Does that mean I am getting really old? LOL

I love football

At least right this minute! LOL I'm watching the Tennessee/Alabama game (hi Sassy!). I have to say that I'm loving wathing the Tide roll over the hated Big Orange. Hee hee! The score right now (with just under 11min to go in the 4th quarter ) is 38-17 and Bama just converted the 2 pt conversion on their latest TD to make it a 21 point game. Hee hee!

Okay, I'm done being evil for the moment. ;-) I'll be back with a final in a little while.

FINAL: 41-17 Bama!! Hee hee! Hee hee! Hee hee! (they hate Bama more than they hate us so this is really sweet!) You know, I don't think I would enjoy this nearly as much if I didn't live in the land of the Orange. Hee hee!

Okay, so I'm really really loving football right now!! Just found out that Vandy beat South Carolina 17-6! 17-6, really? I think I'm in shock!! Take that Spurrier!! This means that UGA is still in the SEC hunt. WOOHOO!!

No UGA game this week

Ya know, I didn't blog about the UGA/Vandy game last week. I even went to the game. How sad is that? I think I'm just ready for a bye week. They have stressed me out more often than not this year. *sigh* I don't even think I looked at the game stats. Maybe I need the brain break or the emotional break before my beloved Dawgs travel down to Jacksonville to chew on some Gator tail. The powers that be have decided to schedule our bye week right before the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Smart............for once. Maybe it will make a difference. No, I'm not confident about that, but hey a girl can hope, right?

Even though my Dawgs don't play I will be watching football this weekend. LSU and Auburn are playing and I'm hoping for a good game. Tennessee and Alabama are playing too. You all know that I'm hoping for a Tide win. LOL Florida is playing Kentucky and I'll be watching this one closely. Of course I'm hoping for a Gator loss, but I know that I need for Kentucky to lose if we want a chance at the SEC. Do you know how hard it is to even think like that...............for any reason? *shudder*

What happens when your car starts costing more than your payment?

I'm afraid that my car is about to start costing us quite a bit more than my car payment. Just recently I've had to get an alignment and tire rotation and yesterday I had to buy a new battery. Now he "drive" light is blinking. We called the dealership and they said that is an indication of transmission trouble. Ugh!!! Do you know how much it costs to fix/replace a transmission? Way more than we have to spare. Then we have to add in that Michael's car has something going on too. *sigh* If it's not one thing it's another.

Does all this mean that things are going to continue breaking on one or the other of our cars? If so, would it be worth it to get at least one new car? I don't necessarily want a new car since we have a great monthly payment on the one we have and I'm not sure we could get another car at what we are paying now.

If we were to get a new car you know my first choice would be a Dodge Ram Quad Cab (full size of course). I also like the Charger, but it would have to come with some cool Dodge Charger accessories. Hee hee! Anyone know where we could get a great deal on a new vehicle?

Well, I survived the week.

It was the first week back to school after our Fall break. I always hate that first week back after a break. I seem to just drag through it. Luckily, my kindergarteners were really good this week. That always helps me get through the week. LOL

I have to be back at school tomorrow. Yeah, tomorrow is Saturday. We are having a Fall carnival. It sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun so I'm not too upset about having to go. It will bring back memories from my childhood I'm sure. I remember going to Halloween carnivals at my elementary school when I was a kid. I loved them! For the carnival each of the classroom teachers were responsible for making a basket of items to auction off during the carnival. My class made a "Baby Basket" and I have to say that I want that basket! LOL One of my parents donated an antique changing table. It is so pretty and there is so much cool stuff on it. No, I don't have a baby anymore and have no need for a changing table, but I want it nonetheless. I'm kinda weird like that. LOL

I'm jealous.

My sister just in the last six months moved into her house. She had it built right beside my dad's pond. She has this amazing master bathroom that I really really want! It has a huge garden tub with water jets and a separate shower that has way more room than it needs. The kitchen.......let's just say that I almost swooned when I walked into the kitchen. *sigh* The living area is huge. The original plans had two rooms on either side of the front door, but she decided that she didn't want those room so she had those walls taken out. Now it is just one big room. I asked her what she planned on doing with such a large room. Her answer? She is buying a pool table for part of it. Yeah, my baby sister has a common area room large enough to have a pool table and still have more than enough room to spare. I'm jealous. I don't think I have enough room for even one of those cool poker tables. Can you see me turning green with envy?

Is she my kid or what?

Today at school Ari points to the flag in her classroom and says to her teacher, "Let's go to a football game." I couldn't help but beam with pride.

Along the same lines..............................Joshua got a present in the mail today from one of my best friends. She sent him a UGA football uniform complete with shoulder pads and helmet. He is so cute in it. When I get the good camera I will take pictures and post them. Ari will be getting a cheerleading outfit from the same friend. It should be here in the next couple days. They are going to be too cute!! Hee hee!!

I love football!!

I have watched 2 football games today and I went to one last night. Let me tell you there were some hard hits out there. Lots of "Ohhhhh"s coming from the crowd. Sometimes I think that those poor players who take those big hits need to call the Raleigh personal injury attorneys after the game. LOL I know they are conditioned to take those kinds of hits, but you know that they get up the next morning is some kind of pain. And to think that these guys have been playing this game for most of their lives. By the time they retire they have to be a mess physically. I love it though. LOL I guess it's the evil coming out in me. ;-)

My boy at his first UGA football game!

Does he look like he is having a blast or what? He is on the shoulders of his very tall Uncle Evan. He could see everything that was happening on the field and all around him from up there. Every time I looked up at him he had this huge grin on his face. He was doing whatever the crowd was doing when cheering for the teams. Unfortunately that meant that he was cheering for the wrong team on occasion, but if you asked him which team he liked he would tell you he wanted the white and red team to win. LOL He is my boy! ;-) If you asked him what is favorite part of the game was he would say that he liked it when the boy would throw the ball and the other boy would catch it. So, does this mean he wants to be a QB or a WR? Only time will tell.

I'm so glad he had a good time. I hope he can see his next UGA game in Athens and see the Dawg Walk. I think he would love that.

Anyone want to babysit tomorrow?

I can't get in touch with our normal babysitter and I want to go down to the UGA/Vandy game with Joshua. If it helps you will only be keeping one of the munchkins. The easiest one at that. Ari just isn't up for a football game yet. At least I don't think so. I think Joshua will have a blast. Now I just have to find someone to keep Ari. UGH!! I hate not knowing many people here or having family who can keep her. My mom has been here all week, but she is leaving early in the morning. Wouldn't ya know it. LOL

Christmas is closer than you think!

It is scary how fast Christmas is coming. We only have a little over 2 months!! Have I started my shopping? Well, actually I have started. I have a couple things for the kids. Does this even put a dent in my list? Not really. *sigh* I still have no idea what to get Michael. I guess I'm still thinking maybe a watch. This time I'm looking at the Hublot watches. He needs several new pairs of pants/jeans too. I think that maybe there are a few things that he needs. LOL It may not be as hard as I fear this year.

Wanna see what we did today?

We went to the team hotel today to see if we could catch the team and get some pictures. Okay, so maybe we were really there to get pictures with Uga. We got both. Well, I took some pictures of the team and Coach Richt, but the kids did get to have their picture taken with Uga. These aren't the best pictures, but we all know that I'm not the photographer in this family. LOL

The kids with UgaVI

A couple pics of UgaVI

Coach Richt signing autographs.

Some of the team coming in.

Should I or shouldn't I?

I am trying to decide if I am going to join my in-laws for tailgating at the UGA/Vandy game. Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to go to the game. I just can't justify the price of the tickets. *sigh* I wanted to take Joshua to his first UGA game. I think he would love it. The problem with going to the tailgate.........well there are actually two problems. 1) It would be really really difficult for me to be at the tailgate and then not go to the game. 2) I'm still a little sensitive about our loss last week and I can't guarantee that I'll be nice if someone brings it up and they WILL bring it up. They just don't seem to get it with me.

So, should I or shouldn't I?

I want to go there.

I've traveled to Australia and Scotland, but I've never been to Boston. How sad is that? I'm a teacher. I should at least visit the cities that have had a major impact on our great country. There is so much history in Boston. You know with the Boston Tea Party and all. LOL I think that it would be very cool to take a guided tour of the city. You can learn a lot from a guided tour. I bet Boston Tours could book one for me. I'd love to walk or ride the route that Paul Revere took when the British were coming and see Battle Trail where they say the minutemen were fighting for their freedom. I'd also like to see Plymouth Rock. I think it would also be pretty cool to take a cruise on the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides). Maybe I could do some whale watching while I'm there too. Now THAT would be cool. One place I have to visit in every city I go to is the zoo and the aquarium. I'm not sure what the draw is for those, but I hate to miss them when I go to someplace new. I would also want to take a lighthouse tour. I love lighthouses. They fascinate me. They have since I was a little girl. They also kind of freak me out a little too. They just seem a tad on the spooky side sometimes. LOL There is so much to do in Boston. I have to plan a trip there really soon.

In a funk

For the last couple days I've been in a funk. Yes, it is directly related to Saturday's game. No, I'm not over it yet so you cannot speak to me about it. Especially if you are a fan of the other team. I just about bit my stepmom's head off today when she asked me how my weekend was. She didn't even mention the game, but knowing that she is a fan of the hated Orange I just knew she was referring to it. It's that bad. Michael says he can see an intervention coming in our future. *sigh* Why is it that the older I get the worse I take these losses?

My Girls' Weekend

How much fun did we have? Loads of fun. What do we do? Absolutely nothing! It is the most wonderful weekend. There are no responsibilities and no stress. It's just three best friends, a few books and movies, some knitting, and lots of catching up.

This year we stayed in a new cabin. This one was by far our favorite. It was decorated very tastefully. They were not trying to achieve the whole "mountain cabin" look to the point of overdoing it. There were artificial deer antlers on the chandelier and the lamps, but none of the bears or moose stuff scattered all around. Like I said it was very tasteful. Even the fixtures were understated. They had very nice Kohler Faucets in the bathrooms and kitchen. I find it funny that I would notice the faucets. LOL But, they were really nice.

Have nothing to say.

There really is nothing to say. Nothing good anyway. Pissed off (not only with my Dawgs, but with my so called family and friends who decided it was okay to rub that shit in.....I don't do it and I expect the same courtesy but never get it). Disappointed. Shocked. Disheartened. Just plain sad. My husband says that I am on a whole other plane when it comes to football fans. Most get over a loss pretty quickly, but I tend to hang on to the emotions. I do know that this is true, but I can't seem to help it. It IS very emotional for me. I've noticed that the older I get the harder it is for me to deal with big losses. The anger gets more intense. You would think that those who know me would have learned that by now. Apparently not. It just intensifies my disappointment really. Or adds to it. I get disappointed in them for not respecting the emotions. *sigh*

Do you sew?

I need to find someone who sews. I have a need for a couple aprons. I want a couple for my classroom. They only need to be the little half aprons like you see at some of the home improvement stores. I could put thinks like stickers, stamps, pens, and sticky notes in it so that I don't always have to walk back to my desk when I need one of those items.

I think I'd like a couple cute ones for my own kids too. We make cupcakes earlier this week and they had so much fun. I think it would be fun to start teaching them their way around a kitchen. I think they would enjoy it. I know I would.

TMNT

Am I the only one left who hasn't seen it? I loved the turtles when I was a kid. I watched the first three movies many times. Raphael was always my favorite. I have a thing for trouble makers. LOL I think I am going to watch TMNT On Demand tonight. I really wanted to see it in the theater though. I'm sure it would have been great on the big screen. Unfortunately having kids puts a crimp in the movie watching thing at a theater. Yeah, I probably could have taken Joshua to see it. If I think he will like it and not get scared I will let him watch it tomorrow. He likes his action figures of the turtles.

Winter is coming

I'm looking forward to the cold weather and hopefully some snow. I am not, however, looking forward to what the cold weather does to my skin. I get all dry and itchy. My feet get all cracked and nasty (yeah, I'm sure you needed to know that). I hate that part of winter. I really need to find some really good skin care products to help alleviate the problems with dry skin. I have a couple things that I like, but I need to find something that works really well on my feet. They always seem to get it the worst.

So I'll be very busy until Friday and then MIA for the weekend

This is my the weekend for my annual girls' weekend in the North Georgia mountains. I am so excited. An entire weekend with no responsibilities, good books, good food, good drinks, and great friends. This weekend though we have some major life changing things to talk about with one of our group. Should be interesting.

Until then I have to clean my house since one of the girls is coming tomorrow to stay with me and then drive to the cabin on Friday. Not only that, but my mom is coming on Saturday to keep the kids for the rest of the weekend and then stay the rest of the week. The kids are very excited about that. Me too actually.

This weekend is the UGA-Tennessee weekend. I will be watching the game of course. And, my phone will be turned off. My younger brothers have a tendency to call me especially if we lose. They are Vol fans (shudder). Keep in mind that I NEVER call them to rub it in when their team loses. They, however, do not extend the same courtesy. I didn't even call them when Vandy beat them. Aren't I a nice sister? I have a scar on my hand where I hit the coffee table when one of them called me after a particularly horrible loss. I so wish it would have been the brother I had hit. It would have hurt less. LOL Hopefully this year I won't get that kind of call and when I return on Monday I can blog about what a wonderful game it was. I'll keep my fingers crossed and I promise not to rub it in to my UT friends if we win.

Go vote!

UGA's Thomas Brown is up for Cadillac Player of the Week. Go vote for him!! He deserves it with his performance against Ol' Miss. He had 16 carries for 180 yards and 3 touchdowns. Folks that is an average of 11.3. Amazing!

Migraines

Do you suffer from them? I get them, but not very often. They have been known to last for an entire week though. I got my first one at 14 years old. It was massive. I missed an entire week of school and the doctor gave me 2 prescriptions, some samples he had in his office, and a shot. Even with all that it lasted the entire week. I've only had one other one that bad and that was when I was 17 and we had just moved to Florida. Now I get them about every couple months or so, but not that bad. I try to catch it early so it doesn't get bad. I usually succeed.

I have a cousin who gets really really bad ones at least once a week. She is miserable. So far she hasn't been able to find anything that works for her. Her next option is to try Botox for migraines. I just hope it works for her. I know that I couldn't handle having migraines at least once a week.

Everything including the kitchen sink

Several years ago Michael came to Atlanta to help me move back to Nashville. We loaded the truck all day and let me just tell you that that truck was packed. I had no idea I had some much stuff. LOL I was living with my best friend at the time and she was remodeling her house so there was a kitchen sink in the basement. Michael and I thought it would be hilarious to take a picture of the incredibly full truck and him holding that kitchen sink like he was about to put it in too. We got a huge kick out of it. Who knew that kitchen sinks could be so funny? Apparently only us since nobody seemed to get it when we showed them the picture. LOL

Should I or shouldn't I?

I've been thinking of making a change. I've done it before (in 2000) and liked it. It's just a little more work than I like to deal with early in the morning. I want to get my hair cut really short. I wish I had hair like Meg Ryan or Charlize Theron (in Mighty Joe Young). I like that short curly look. Unfortunately my hair is straight as a board. *sigh* Anyone have any ideas on styles for straight hair that would be easy to work with especially at 5am? Any help would be appreciated.

Is this a teacher thing?

I love pens. I have all kinds in my purse and at school in my desk. Everything from every color Sharpie to personalized pens. It seems that I can never have enough pens. I'm always looking for more. I don't like to lend them out either. They tend to stay out. That drives me crazy. Does that make me weird? Nevermind, don't answer that. LOL I most often write in blue ink, but I like to check student papers in all different colors. Got any cool pens to share?

I'm lovin' CSS On Demand!

Today I've watched the UGA/Ol' Miss game and now I am watching the Florida/Auburn game. There have been no commercials and no breaks for time outs. LOL The games last about an hour and a half. It's great! Not better than watching live, but great nonetheless.

I am a truck kinda girl

The first vehicle I ever bought in my name was a Chevy S-10 pickup truck. I loved that truck and actually cried when I had to get rid of it (not a good vehicle when you have a baby). Now I my dream truck is a Dodge Ram Quad Cab in silver. The extra auto accessories are a must. It needs to have a bed liner and a cover. I would definitely need the step rails too. I drove my brother's truck over the summer and I don't think I could have gotten in without them. LOL I will have my truck one day. I've even seen the bumper sticker I want, "Silly boys, trucks are for girls!" I love that bumper sticker.

That was fun

Today the kids and I baked cupcakes. Well, actually I did the baking part and they got to frost them. They had a blast!! Unfortunately Michael took the camera to work today so I couldn't get pictures. We had chocolate and pink (strawberry) frosting. The kids insisted on having two different kinds. Joshua wanted the chocolate and Ari just had to have the "pink princess" frosting. LOL They didn't make as big of a mess as I thought they were going to though. I put the frosting on the cupcakes and then let them spread it. I think our next project will be Halloween cookies.

Sometimes you just gotta wish for them.

Ever been on a trip driving along and all of a sudden you hit traffic at a dead stop? It never fails for me, when that happens I immediately have to go to the bathroom. I've had to sit in traffic where we moved one mile in three hours with no place to turn around. I have never wished I had access to protective underwear more than I did that day. I know I joke about having to use them when I get old, but that was one day I wasn't joking. LOL It was three hours people!! There were people out of their cars throwing footballs and Frisbees.
