Michael said it best.

"Stupid Titans"

Not much more to say. Except maybe our offense sucked all year. VY definitely struggled in his sophomore year. I do expect better next year though.

Man oh man

This is a very physical game. It's pretty ugly. Heck, even Dan Dierdorf wondered if they were all in a bad mood. LOL I'd have to say yes at this point. Helmets are flying all over the place. Even L.T. got a personal foul penalty. Both starting QBs have gone down already. They both went down on run plays that they really had nothing to do with. Like I said.........ugly. Right now the score is tied in the 3rd quarter at 3. It's fun, but dang I worry about all the players involved. LOL

I'd say that even the fans are in a bad mood. I've never heard so much booing from them. They boo when we throw. They boo when we run. They boo every hit by the other team like it is an illegal hit. I'm not sure what exactly it is that they want today. LOL

Oh wow. We just had a major no call. Someone threw a horse collar tackle on Chris Brown when he went in for the TD. Score now is 10-3 Titans.

Dan Dierdorf: "Oh my gosh, it's Vanden Bosch again." LOL It does seem that #93 is all over Rivers today.

Damn, tied with 9 seconds left. Looks like overtime. I hate overtime. *sigh*

Yep going to overtime and the fans are booing again. They really need to stop that. The team really needs them at the 12th man now.

Damn. I really do hate overtime. L.T. goes in for the winning TD. 23-17 *sigh*

Titans won!! 28-20

And we even got into the end zone. Not only did we get in, but we got in 4 times. Yep, it's true.

Our defense played better this week. Big ol' Albert Haynesworth was back.............thankfully! I am still trying to figure out how one person can make such a huge difference in the play of the whole. Doesn't matter anymore I guess since he is back, but it's still interesting to me. I just hope we can keep it up.

Now I have to say something to the fans. Where the hell were you? For it to be a sold out game there were a hell of a lot of empty seats. Yeah, it was raining...............so. Suck it up. It's football and that was perfect football weather if you ask me. Are you a fan or are you not? You spent money on a ticket(s) and then didn't go? What a waste. If you aren't going to show up then how 'bout you give someone else the opportunity to buy the tickets and give up your PSLs. I'm sure there are people on the waiting list who would have been there regardless of the weather or how poorly you think the Titans are playing. Whatever your reasons for not showing up there really is no excuse. Pitiful.

Maybe I'll buy some of those advertising pens that say something like "If you don't want your Titans tickets I'll take them." At least they can be sure that I would be there adding my voice to the others who show up to support their team.

Who would have ever thought that one person could make such a big difference?

It just doesn't make sense. How could one person being out of the lineup make such a huge difference in the performance of the whole? Since Haynesworth has been injured our defense has absolutely sucked. We can't stop the run. We can't stop the pass. We can't stop anything or anybody. This is really really bad. When is Haynesworth going to be healthy enough to come back? Does anybody know?

Our offense can't seem to get things going either. The last couple games it's been a lot of dropped balls. It's been like watching last year's Georgia Bulldog team with all the dropped passes. It's very frustrating. I know these guys are good or they wouldn't be in the NFL, but come on. Catch the damn ball.

The game today is just plain sad/bad/ugly/pitiful. I won't even go into the penalties. Ugh!!!

They are killing me!!

My Titans. They are driving me nuts. They cannot get into the end zone for anything. They have made 6 (at the moment) field goals and only 1 touchdown today. The 6 field goals are a franchise record. The NFL record is 7. We are on track to break that one. Our defense is playing really well again, but our offense is really really bad. Okay, not horrible, but not really good either. If it wasn't for our defense we would not be winning many games. *sigh*

As I type this we did get into the end zone for the 2nd time today. Chris Henry got his 1st NFL touchdown. Good for him.

ETA: Our defense is starting to not play so well. *sigh*

ETA (again): "Wow what a game!" says the announcer. Ummm, yeah! We barely pulled it out with a Bironas field goal (yeah he broke the NFL record for number of field goals in a game with 8) with 4 seconds left. Good for him, but dang!! That is just crazy. We need to be getting in the end zone. It's embarrassing if you really want to think about it.

Mr. Monday Night

Okay so I know that I am taking entirely too long to blog about my favorite football teams this week. I'll try to do better next week. ;-)

Anyway, how 'bout that Keith Bullock? Mr. Monday Night no doubt. He had 3 interceptions. What fun to watch. He also had 4 tackles. Not a bad night, huh? LOL

We had 4 interceptions on the night with one going all the way back for a touchdown. VY spread the ball around pretty well. He threw to 7 different receivers for 164 yards. His passing yards may not look all that great, but I'm happy with it. It means that the running game is working for us at the moment.

I do love to watch VY play. Unlike a couple other mobile QBs he doesn't run at the first sign of trouble. He gives his receivers a little time to get open and lets the play develop. He scans the field and if there isn't a play or his protection starts to break down then he takes off. He's still scanning the field until he reaches the line of scrimmage. If there is a pass play to be found he will go for that. I like that. He understands that this is a team sport and he can't do it on his own. I've heard several announcers say that he wants to be a quarterback first and a runner last. You definitely see that on the field. He is going to be one of the great ones and I am so looking forward to watching him for years to come.

Oh yeah, if you didn't already know.................Titans win 31-14. ;-)

Well, that sucked

Actually that's not entirely true. It sucks that we lost, but we played the Colts close and we never let the game get away from us. Losing by 2 to the Colts is not that horrible. Plus, we had a chance in the end. I kinda think they should have let Bironas try it right there at the end. You never know. LOL I think we would have had a better chance of that than getting that first down.

It's not a win, but it shows a vast improvement in our team and that we can play with the best and hold our own. Nothing to be embarrassed about in that.

How much would I love this?!

It's been reported that David Greene (you know, former UGA quarterback and winningest college football QB) is scheduled to work out for the Titans. Now don't get me wrong. I absolutely love VY, but I'd love to have Greene as a backup. He is good. Very good. His agent is saying he is certain to be on someone's practice squad. I don't think that his horrible. Heck, get in the program and learn the system. Get better and move on up. I'm not sure why he didn't make it in Seattle. Maybe he didn't get enough of an opportunity to show what he could do. He played very little in any preseason and not one snap in the regular season. Wherever he goes I hope someone gives him an opportunity. He is too good to not be playing somewhere in the NFL.

Well that was fun!

Titans 13
Jags 10

Where the heck did the running game come from? I'm impressed. Supposedly the Jags have a great run defense, but we were racking up the yards on the ground all day. We had a hard time getting in the end zone though. Chris Brown alone had 175 rushing yards (he is leading the league in rushing at this time.......closest is Travis Henry--Denver-- with 134)! We had 282 rushing yards as a team. Wow! How often do you see that happen? On the opposite side, we held the Jags to 72 rushing yards. All their rushing yards came in the second half too. Weren't we ranked dead last in rushing defense last year? Again, wow! We held Jones-Drew to only 32 yards. He was scary good last year. I was worried about going against him this year. We had a good showing! I just hope that we can keep it up.

It wasn't all good though. We had a tough time getting in the end zone. If I remember correctly we should have had at least 3 more touchdowns than we did. We were inside the 10 and had to settle for field goals and one time we came away with no points because we missed a 4th and goal.

I'm very happy with the outcome of the game. It made my weekend a little better.

I'm hoping for a better football day today.

Last night sucked.

Today my Titans play the Jags. I'm hoping they play better than my Dawgs did. I'm not overly confident in this game either. Last year we played horribly against the Jags. It was pretty ugly. Most of my FL family are Jacksonville fans so it would be a bad thing to lose to them again. LOL While I don't rub in football losses, they don't always exhibit that same courtesy.

Wish us luck today.

It's been 8 years? Really?

As my wonderful husband blogged about earlier, it is 8 years ago tonight that the Tennessee Titans opened what was then called Adelphia Coliseum. I remember that year well. I was lucky enough to go to almost every regular season game. I think the only one I missed was because I went to the Georgia/Florida game in Jacksonville.

I remember how that team played with so much heart. I had no intention of being a Titans fan. I had been a Miami Dolphin fan my entire life and never thought any team could worm their way into my heart. The Titans did though. It was not a pretty season. We won every home game that year, but they were mostly ugly wins. That team played with heart and they won my heart.

I bought a Frank Wycheck jersey pretty early in the year and wore it for every game, but still didn't consider myself a huge Titans fan. That changed during our first playoff game. While my husband was on the field for the "Music City Miracle" I was not lucky enough to get tickets to that game. I was sitting in my recliner at home watching. When the Bills scored to go ahead with 16 seconds left in the game I called my mom crying (this was when I knew I was a true fan...........only one other team had ever been able to make me cry and I'll let you guess which team that was. LOL). But, just a couple minutes later I was jumping up and down in the middle of my living room and crying for a completely different reason. Yep, I was hooked. I've been hooked ever since.

As we sit here with another football season upon us I remember the great time I had that first year. I miss going to the games. I have to content myself with watching at home and maybe get lucky enough for a friend to invite me with an extra ticket.

Titans training camp started today!!

WOOHOO!! Do you know what training camp means? It means that football season is almost here. I can see the light at the end of the very long tunnel called "the off season." I'm so excited!!!

Fans can go watch the practices for the entire camp. Which is pretty cool. Unfortunately I don't think we will be able to make it out there with school starting back already. Maybe I can talk Michael into taking the kids (or at least Joshua) one day when he is off work. I think he would love it.

One piece of news that came out of camp today is that our first round draft pick, Michael Griffin of Texas, was not on the field today. He and the Titans have not come to terms on his contract. Coach Fisher doesn't seem concerned about it though. Griffin is the only player not signed yet. I hope he gets it signed soon. It's never a good thing for a player to miss training camp. Especially a rookie. And, I won't get into my rant on holding out. ;-)

UPDATE: Griffin has now signed. Latest possibility? Simeon Rice? Could be.

It's getting close!! Are you excited?

Football season that is! The Titans go to training camp next Friday, July 27 and their first preseason game is against Washington on Saturday, August 11. Granted training camp is usually full of bad news (you know.....so and so went down with ________ injury or so and so will be out for the season with _________ injury), but at least it's football news! Preseason games don't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, but at least it is a game to watch. I'll take what I can get. The off season is too long for this football fan.
