UGA (1-0) 55 LA. Laf (0-1) 7
WOW! I'm not sure that there is much more to say about today's game. I really didn't know what to think coming into the game. We have a freshman QB and a freshman back up QB. We have a new Offensive Coordinator. I was nervous. Yes, even though it was LA Laf (or LA LA for fun). Well I was pleasantly surprised. Young Aaron Murray is pretty darn good. He made some freshman mistakes like throwing the ball to a wide open Ragin' Cajun in the endzone. Luckily he dropped the ball. LOL Murray made up for that one by running for a TD. He passes and he runs. Fun!!! Just hoipe he's careful when he takes off running. Don't want him to get hurt. As for the other QB, well his very first college pass ended in a TD. I'll take that too!!
As for the defense........................all I can say is.................................HELL YES!!!!! They were aggressive and swarming to the ball. They had 3 interceptions........................in ONE game!!! I think last year they had all of 10 for the season. One of the ints today went for a TD. Gotta love it when your O AND your D are scoring points. At one point BR got beat on a play. The D seemed to get a little complacent and LA LA (heehee) went for a long TD. Todd Grantham (our new DC) went ballistic!!! He was all over BR on the sidelines. It was great to see. He brings fire to the sidelines and to the defense. It's been too long since we've had that. In the 1st half LA LA had only one 1st down and that one was given to them due to a penalty. Our defense only allowed them five 1st downs the entire game. I LOVE that!!
We are still having penalty problems. Today we had 6 for 35 yards. This needs to be taken care of. There is no excuse for it.
Over all I am very happy about today's game. Granted it was a game we were "supposed" to win, but it's always nice to win those like we did today. It's been a long time since that's happened too. I've grown accustomed to squeaking by the teams we should be running over. I like this much better. LOL
Next week we travel to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks. This is always a tough game for us. I'm not overly confident, but I do feel better about it than I did a couple days ago. I needed to see our defense and our new QB in action. I'm still nervous, but no fingernails have been lost so far and I'd really appreciate it if my Dawgs keep playing well so none are lost. Thanks!
Until next week..............................
GOOOO DAWGS!!!! GATA boys!!!
